Boulder Housing Partners broke ground in May 2024 on Hawthorn Court, a 73-unit affordable apartment community. Hawthorn Court is being constructed as part of the Diagonal Plaza redevelopment project. BHP is building alongside Trammel Crow Residential to breathe new life into the formerly underutilized and blighted parking lot. The site is adjacent to BHP’s Diagonal Court Community and will improve safety for residents as well as create a community connection between the two sites. Hawthorn Court addresses a need for accessible and affordable housing by introducing 40 one-bedroom, 27 two-bedroom, and six three-bedroom homes for households earning between 30% and 60% of Area Median Income. For a one-bedroom apartment, this translates into monthly rents ranging from approximately $821 to $1,643. Seven apartments will be fully accessible for people with disabilities and all of the apartments will be accessible for visitors with disabilities. In addition, five three-bedroom units will be voluntarily set aside for families experiencing or at risk of homelessness, in collaboration with local homeless service providers. The project’s general contractor is Deneuve Construction Services, with architecture by Coburn; civil engineering by JVA, Incorporated; and sustainability consultation by Energetics. on Facebook on LinkedIn on Bluesky
